Departure at 8.30 am. While driving through the city, your guide will give a presentation of New Caledonia history and main features.
Leaving Noumea behind, you will drive by La Conception village, famous for its little church. The church was built by missionaries in 1874, contains many plaques left to thank the Virgin Mary for favors and miracles. The church remains a popular pilgrimage destination.
Continue to the south, towards Yate Dam, built in 1959 - the hydroelectric scheme that supplies Noumea with Electricity. On to Goro Waterfalls, falling into a natural pool. Enjoy a refreshing swim!
Continue to St Gabriel’s guest house for a traditional Melanesian Lunch, Le Bougna. Yam, taro, sweet potato, banana and chicken/fish pieces mixed in coconut milk and wrapped in banana leaves to be cooked in earth oven.
The food is meticulously prepared into the ground with hot stones and cooks as in an oven. After lunch return to Noumea and stop on the way for photo stops with wide panoramas, spectacular lunar lands. Back at 4.30 pm.
