Discover the Cultural Center J.M. TJIBAOU designed by Renzo PIANO (Winner of 1998 Pritzker prize) which is a harmonious alliance of modern and traditional kanak architecture. The Cultural Center's design was inspired by the thatch huts traditional to the native Kanaks. It displays a unique collection of Kanak and South Pacific art, custom and history. Guides will take you through several exhibits, explaining in detail the myths and beliefs of the Kanak society.

A 45-minute guided tour on the Kanak walk explaining in details the myths and beliefs of the Kanak society. During the Kanak path, you will discover their special plants, the kanak village and other South Pacific Region's custom and culture while seeing the most beautiful sites of Noumea.

The Center has been named in recognition of the kanak leader, Jean-Marie Tjibaou, in particular for his contribution to cultural development.
